Title - 'Codename: Rondo' (Sony/Red Distribution)
Artist - Ghostland Observatory

OK, I'll be honest, I had no idea who, or what these guys were; or musically represented. So, much like watching a movie when you have not done any homework on it, I slipped the CD into the player, knuckled down to the work in the office, and allowed whatever it was to come out!

And, my goodness, wow! I loved it! I know music is always such a personal thing to every one concerned, but why en mass won't take to this Ghostland Observatory sound is/will be beyond me!

I mean, come on, firstly, what a cool frickin' band name: Ghostland Observatory. I have no idea where it originated, where they come from, but it shows realimagination. Secondly, their fourth album title, 'Codename: Rondo' is beyond cool too! Lastly, their (all-important) sound: They are a blend of electronica and pop, coupled with some guitar backgrounds.

Much like the electronica and pop of the '80s, save for the cheese factor that came with those singles, somehow GO have been able to remove it all. Transplanting instead a freshness that ebbs and flows throughout. If one had to nail the sound down, which one shouldn't, let's go with (a mellow) Daft Punk meets (a subdued) Kraftwerk - meets a Moog!

Other such under-the-radar bands that fulfill great pop electronica promises, include: Arcanum, a great little band from Georgia, The Advisors, the synth pop of Lazer Crystal, and, albeit with a more modern indie pop flavor, We Are Pilots.

I urge you to buy 'Codename: Rondo' (Trashy Moped Recordings via Sony/Red Distribution), because you will not be disappointed - musically or monetarily, I promise.
