Title - 'Wyrd'
Artist - Ellesmere

For those not in the know, Ellesmere is the brainchild of Roberto Vitelli, former bass and guitar player from Italian prog band Taproban.

And the band have just-released their third Ellesmere album, the brilliantly-entitled Wyrd via AMS Records/Btf label as a CD/Mini LP sleeve format and Digital Download.

The album is once again the brainchild of the Italian multi-instrumentalist Roberto Vitelli, who wrote the music and the lyrics of every song, as well as taking care of all of the bass and guitar parts on the five tracks that are included in the concept.

Indeed on Wyrd, the power trio - composed of Roberto Vitelli on bass, guitars and bass pedals, Mattias Olsson (Änglagård, Molesome, Döskalle, etc.) on drums and percussion, and Fabio Bonuglia (Ivory Moon, Metallari Animati) on keyboards - is joined by many fantastic special guests: David Cross (King Crimson) on violin; John Hackett (Steve Hackett, JHBand) on flute; Tony Paglica (Le Orme), Tomas Bodin (The Flower Kings) and Fabio Liberatori (Stadio, RAM) on keyboards; David Jackson (VDGG, Osanna) on saxes; Luciano Regoli (RRR, Samadhi) and Giorgio Pizzala (NIR) on vocals.

1. 'Challenge'
2. 'The Eary Manor'
3. 'Endeavour'
4. 'Ajar'
5. 'Endless'

Opening on the stoically orchestrated, seven minute piano and synth masterpiece 'Challenge,' they follow that with the more atmospherically-liberating, haunted house eeriness of aptly-named 'The Eary Manor,' and then we get one of my own personal favorites here, the sonically mesmerizing, eight minute opus 'Endeavour.'

Next up is yet another stand out track, in the form of the gently frenetic, yet always controlled and vibrantly cultured, eight minute 'Ajar,' with the album coming to a close on the highly emphatic, exhilaratingly phonic, thirteen minute epic 'Endless.'
