Title - 'Shades Of Love'
Artist - Zoe Scott
For those not in the know, the once-upon-a time rocker Zoe Scott has just released her vibrantly wondrous new album, Shades Of Love, a 12-track collection of reimagined primrose songs.
Produced by Grammy winner Moogie Canazio, Shades Of Love reflects Zoe’s newfound passion for the call of the Bossa Nova, a sound conveying what Zoe calls “feeling in.”
Also featuring Torcuato Mariano and Daniel Jobim, who is the grandson of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Zoe continues her voyage into personal renaissance with these quite magnificent, and meticulously curated collection of 12 songs.
1. 'Quiet Nights'
2. 'I'll Stand By You'
3. 'This Girl's In Love'
4. '7 Lives'
5. 'Wave'
6. 'The More I See You'
7. 'Baby It's You'
8. 'Once I Loved'
9. 'My Cherie Amour'
10. 'In My Life'
11. 'Triste'
12. 'You Know I'm No Good'
Opening with the lushly evocative vocal deliverance of 'Quiet Nights,' Zoe backs that up with The Pretenders' brilliant 'I'll Stand By You,' which is in turn followed by a warmly pleasing, and wholly enrapturing rendition of Herb Alpert’s 'This Guy’s In Love With You' (retitled here as 'This Girl's In Love'), a mellow '7 Lives,' and then the gentle hipsway of Frank Sinatra's 'Wave.'
Next up is the Bossa Nova-laced melodies now found within Nat King Cole's elegant 'The More I See You,' which is followed by a breathy, trombone-laced 'Baby It's You'(The Shirelles), a breathtaking 'Once I Loved' (Dianne Reeves), a slowed down 'My Cherie Amour' (Stevie Wonder), and then the album rounds out with a delightful take on the Beatles 'In My Life,' another Dianne Reeves track, the passively perfect ebb and flow of 'Triste,' closing on the Amy Winehouse classic 'You Know I'm No Good.'
