Title - 'Breakdown: A Compilation 1995-2019'
Artist - Dave Kerzner

For those not in the know, Dave Kerzner is a progressive rock artist and producer who has been making music since the mid-90s with artists such as Kevin Gilbert of Toy Matinee and others.

In 2010 he co-founded the award-winning band Sound of Contact with Simon Collins and co-wrote/produced their debut album Dimensionaut.

Since then, Kerzner has released two highly acclaimed studio solo albums New World and Static as well as several live albums and a lot of music made with an array of collaborative projects such as his band In Continuum (featuring special guests Steve Hackett of Genesis and more), Mantra Vega (a transatlantic project with former Mostly Autumn singer Heather Findlay), Lo-Fi Resistance (with Randy McStine), and star-studded tribute albums with his side project Sonic Elements.

Breakdown: A Compilation 1995-2019 collects together Dave Kerzner's best works as he approaches his 25th Anniversary as a professional musician in 2020.

Indeed, the 2CD set includes many rare and alternate versions of his best known tracks. The songs date back to when Kerzner played in Kevin Gilbert's band Thud (1995) to his work with Sound of Contact, Lofi Resistance, Mantra Vega and In Continuum, in addition to his solo studio and live albums.

8. All That Is' (Feat. Jon Davison)
9. Only Breathing Out'
10. Omega Point (Live)'
11. Not Coming Down (Live)'

Having been released this past November 15th, 2019 via Cherry Red Records (UK), this collection of 21 songs on 2CDs translates to a magnificent 2+ hours of music, all created and produced by Kerzner.

Starting off with an homage to Kevin Gilbert and Kerzner's days playing with his band Thud, a rare live version of Kevin's song 'Joytown' is a massive stand out highlight here.

Also inclusive of brand new versions of songs like 'Only Breathing Out' - which he originally wrote and recorded with Sound of Contact - as well as the song 'All That Is' - from the soon to be released sophomore In Continuum album Acceleration Theory Part 2: Annihilation - it's the latter that has me praising the music Gods every time it comes on.

Featuring guest vocalist Jon Davison of Yes, it was co-written between Kerzner and Yes co-founder Jon Anderson and is just a sheer musical marvel worth every penny you will spend on purchasing this new album.

The title track of the album, 'Breakdown' is actually an outtake from Kerzner’s solo album Static and just adds perspective to the sampling of some of the best songs of Kerzner's music career on offer here.

In addition to this, the collection offers alternate versions of songs from LoFi Reistance’s Chalk Lines and Mantra Vega’s The Illusion’s Reckoning, with some absolutely stellar instrumental versions being spliced in between.

“Because a lot of my songs have ended up on albums from different bands and projects, as opposed to being easily found on my solo albums, I thought it would be nice to bring a taste of each together in one double CD package at an attractive price to introduce a body of my work to new listeners,” says Kerzner.

"While doing this compilation, I also wanted to include previously unreleased outtakes, alternate studio tracks and live versions of songs from these albums so this collection would appeal to those who already have my albums and want more.”

Kerzner is joined by world-class musicians on this compilation including Steve Hackett of Genesis, Jon Davison of Yes, Francis Dunnery of It Bites, Durga and Lorelei McBroom of Pink Floyd, Fernando Perdomo, Randy McStine of The Fringe, Marco Minnemann of Steven Wilson & The Aristocrats, Nick D'Virgilio of Big Big Train, Matt Dorsey of Sound of Contact, Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree, Heather Findlay of Mantra Vega and Mostly Autumn, Ruti Celli, Andy Robbins, Christine Leakey, David Kilminster of Roger Waters' band, Alex Cromarty of Mantra Vega, Stuart Fletcher of Sea Horses, Chris Johnson of Mantra Vega and more!
