Title - 'We Are Not Here To Help'
Artist - The Brutalists

For those not in the know, The Brutalists are a new rock and roll group featuring founding L.A. Guns member Mick Cripps and London Quireboys founder Nigel Mogg.

The group is rounded out by guitarist/vocalist Kent Holmes, bassist Robert Cripps and vocalist/drummer Charlie Nice and their self-titled debut was released this very same time last year.

The sophomore album from L.A.’s premiere garage rock quintet, We Are Not Here To Help is out now via Cleopatra Records and once again it combines their inherent musical influences from growing up in the industry.

Chock full of leering blues, pub rock, R&B and the synthesized dance ennui of post-punk, seasoned with bits of ska and reggae, this sophomore album is, without a shadow of a doubt, as strong as their first outing - if not perhaps a wee bit more gusto enhanced!

1. 'Leave It Out'
2. 'If I Just Do Nothing'
3. 'Who’s Gonna Believe Ya'
4. 'Take It All Away'
5. 'Something To Say'
6. 'Price On Your Head'
7. 'You Got Nothin’ On Me'
8. 'Useless Information'
9. 'Someone Like You'
10. 'Maybe I’m Wrong'
11. 'It Was Never Meant To Be So Easy' (CD Bonus Track)

On an album that brings forth 11 tracks that are just as vibrant, as rewarding to listen to as I think any album has affected me in the past decade, We Are Not Here To Help You is a magnificent example of how to create a still-requisite collection of music in this manufactured-pop industry.

From the achingly brilliant rock and soul of the opening duo of 'Leave It Out' and 'If I Just Do Nothing,' to the hipsway R&B bounce of the first single 'Take It All Away,' on through to the second single, the uber catchy 'Price On Your Head,' and the smart lyrics and flashback era musicianship found on both 'Maybe I'm Wrong' and the CD bonus track 'It Was Never Meant To Be Easy,' this album is as good as any record of its ilk made in the past 40 years!

Catch The Brutalists on their West Coast tour this summer and fall plus UK appearances later in the year including a reunion with The Dirty Strangers!
