Title - ‘The Beauty of The Rain’ (Razor & Tie)
Artist - Dar Williams
Here's the sixth Dar solo record, and no question about her lyricist qualities, it's still first rate. I even think she's at her peak concerning that. She's still in great vocal form as well, and her voice is something. Now, concerning the music, well, it's not Dar's most original stuff here, though half of the songs are still very good, just as simple, beautiful songs to hear at home or on radios. After more than ten listens, "Mercy Of The Fallen", "Farewell To The Old Me", "The World's Not Falling Apart", "The One Who Knows", and the ethereal "I Have Lost My Dreams" stand out the most. But all round, this is good, solid work. But, the jewel here is the song title, the beautiful "The Beauty of The Rain." Now, newcomers should probably start with The Honesty Room, her first album, or The Green World which is her most achieved album, and probably her overall masterpiece to date.
