Title - 'Nothing In Between'
Artist - Peggy James

Milwaukee singer/songwriter Peggy James has just released her fourth solo studio album, Nothing In Between this past June 29th, 2018 (via Happy Growl Records) and, for my money, it is her best yet.

With veteran producer / guitarist Jim Eannelli on board, James (who rolls gracefully around in the genres of Americana, bluegrass, country and western, folk-rock, and even pop) has brought forth a wondrous 12 tracks of pure, unadulterated musical joy for her fans; both new and old alike.

With the aforementioned Eannelli on electric and acoustic guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, and backing vocals, the albums also features Victor Span (drums), Connie Grauer (keyboards), and Kim Zick (timbales and drums).

1. 'We Had to Meet'
2. 'X-Files'
3. 'An Hour With You'
4. 'Lover'
5. 'Nothing In Between'
6. 'Muscle Man'
7. 'Gotta Have A Love'
8. 'In One Ear (And Out the Other)'
9. 'Ghost'
10. 'Sound of Your Wheels'
11. 'Fallen Snow'
12. 'I Wish You Well'

James' prolific song writing, borrowed and lovingly entwined with her Midwestern roots and Southwestern influences, comes to the fore here on tracks such as old school folk vibe of 'We Had to Meet,' the lush 'An Hour With You,' the knee-bouncin' 'Gotta Have A Love,' and both the piano-backed title track 'Nothing In Between,' and the album closer, 'I Wish You Well.'

Tracks such as the make-a-believer-of-you 'X-Files' is a rather lovely mid-tempo jaunt, with the Twin Peaksesque 'Lover' and the upbeat, finger-snappin,' Jamaica-tinged 'Muscle Man' also very pleasant to indulge within. The countrified 'In One Ear (And Out the Other)' is a fun tale, and is backed by the stone cold sentiment of 'Ghost.'

'Sound of Your Wheels' and 'Fallen Snow' are also stellar inclusions on this must-have album, but having listened to it twice through now, I have to say that you will also find your favorites; all be they ever changing, much like the seasons, of course.

Showcasing gentle, yet genuine admirational nods to artists such as Iris Dement, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, and Shawn Colvin, Nothing In Between provides the listener with just that: An inspired act of storytelling, from A-Z, that culminates beautifully in the beleaguered, yet knowingly justified kiss off on the aforementioned 'I Wish You Well.'
