Title - 'Electric Circus' (MCA)
Artist - Common
This album covers more genres than a "NOW" compilation! It has no limit, it seems. You hear a Hip-Hop song one moment, and a swingy Jazz song featuring Jill Scott the next moment. There's also a bit of rock in there - a song called "Electric Wire Hustle Flower" featuring Sonny from P.O.D. If you want to get deep, relax in a room and listen while Common tells three stories in one song - that song being "Between Me, You & Liberation". And if you want to hear something really funky, unusual yet good just the same, there's "Jimi Was A Rock Star" featuring Erykah Badu. There is basically a little bit of everything, and I can't think of anyone who could pull something like this off so well. This artist really went for something different, and Electric Circus is the result. It's a breath of fresh air; one hand reaching up toward the sky amongst all of the 'gangsta' rap and radio-ready 'pop-hop'. If you want something trippy and new for a change, buy this album and give it a spin from beginning to end. Highly recommended.
