Title - 'Find Your Wings'
Artist - Anna Danes

If you don't know who Anna Danes is, well, don't feel too bad - because I'm pretty sure she's never heard of you either! That said, once you go out and buy this incredible, truly stunning new album from Danes, and once you allow the 12 tracks to embrace your mind, body and soul, you will have not only purchased a lovely album, but you will also finally know her - musically speaking, of course.

Anna Danes is an advocate for passion-pursuing and an unstoppable dream-chaser. Indeed, Anna and her family fled communist Poland for Sweden in 1979, leaving their familiar lives, family and friends behind, and ultimately settled in Canada. Sixteen years ago, Anna moved to sunny California because of love!

She is a former lawyer and stay-at-home mom who at the age of 43 reinvented herself when she turned to singing as a way to find her voice and to change her life when the love in her life was no more. She is now a successful singer, author, speaker and producer. She produces private and public events as well as produces Jazz on Cedros a sophisticated musical happy hour that is celebrating sold-out shows since its inception last year.

In addition, Anna just fulfilled another dream by recording her second full-length jazz album at the iconic Capitol Studios in Hollywood, which has just been released via DLG Recordings; and is already gathering critical acclaim.

The 12 track album, aptly entitled Find Your Wings was produced and mixed by Dave Darling and is a totally breezy, soulful, joyous collection of Anna's latest and greatest musical offerings. A compilation of smooth Jazz originals and classic standards, her sophomore album (recorded at Capital Records Studio A) is, if you missed her debut (Longing), just the perfect introduction to a woman who deserves all the greatness this industry can afford her.

1. "When You Were My King"
2. "I Will Wait For You"
3. "It’s Crazy"
4. "I Want To Be Around-Cry Me A River"
5. "Find Your Wings"
6. "That’s All"
7. "Long Distance"
8. "In The Wee Small Hours"
9. "See You In L.A."
10. "Mr. OMG"
11. "The Voice"
12. "I Love You"

With all that said, I guess I should also open your hearts to one more side of the beautiful Anna Danes. A side that rings sadly true for some many others all over the world. It's no coincidence that Find Your Wings was released during National Breast Cancer Awareness month, because it turned out to be not only an album of great songs, but also an album of great strength, comfort and peace. Because while Anna was working on marketing and promoting this record, she herself was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Each of the 12 tracks showcase both Anna’s impeccable voice together with the tautness of her backing band. Recorded with a natural sound to it, no heavy over dubs, studio reworkings, Anna's voice is firing on all cylinders here on Find Your Wings. That aforementioned backing band (featuring pianist and arranger Rich Ruttenberg, Ty Henry on bass, and drummer John Ferraro), is tight, spot on, and musically accompanying her just perfectly at every turn. Never do they distract the listener away from Anna's vocals though, which is a fine art form to behold in this day and age.

My very own personal favorites off this album would be her beautiful duet with Richard Shelton on “That’s All” - a song that provides a lovely platform for them both to shine equally - the duo of both “I’ll Wait For You” and “See You In L.A.”, and, of course, the great bass line work from Ty Henry on “I Want To Be Around-Cry Me A River”.
