Title - 'Jesse Stone - The Ultimate Collection' [2CD]
Artist - Jeff Beal

The Jesse Stone series of 14 novels have produced 232 combined editions as they continue to be reprinted again and again. On television, Tom Selleck's Jesse Stone films are a modern day phenomenon, with 9 movies between 2005 and 2015. The most recent was released in October.

With ratings generally @ 12-13 million people it wasn't brain surgery to bring out a soundtrack of the best cuts from the movies. Even better though was to bring out a double album of an amazing 51 tracks spanning the life of the character and TV show thus far.

Indeed, all the music from the series of films found on these 2 CDs have been composed by Jeff Beal, (House of Cards, Monk), and as a commercial release of this music has never been widely available until now, well, you can bet your bottom dollar that it is going to fly of the CD racks with all the Jesse Stone fans out there!

Personally, I've enjoyed most Jeff Beal's work on both "The Dovekeepers" soundtrack and the series of "House of Cards" scores. Like he did with the latter, Beal once again here on Jesse Stone - The Ultimate Collection maintains a recognizable sound for the movies, and Selleck's character therein, throughout it's run. In fact, if you listen intently enough, as a fan, it's interesting to see how the main title changes slightly to reflect the changing dynamics of the characters and their complex lives from movie to movie.

Here on the Jesse Stone - The Ultimate Collection score from Beal (which features musical extracts from Stone Cold, Night Passage, Death In Paradise, Sea Change, Thin Ice, No Remorse, Innocents Lost, Benefit Of The Doubt and Lost In Paradise), his work is so beautiful and perfectly matches the dark and sometimes haunting stories from the TV movies. Indeed, I have to say that whilst deciding to listen to these CDs tonight, I sipped on a cold Chardonnay, laid back in my cozy chair, and settled in for an evening of pure musical enjoyment - and got everything that I could have wished for from Jeff Beal.
