For those not in the know, 'Love & Friendship' is a romantic new comedy film written and directed by Whit Stillman. It is based on Jane Austen's epistolary novel Lady Susan first published in 1871. The film stars Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Xavier Samuel and Stephen Fry.

It centres on Lady Susan Vernon (Beckinsale), who seeks refuge at her in-laws estate while rumors about her private life circulate through society. Lady Susan then decides to find a husband for both herself and her daughter.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2016 and is scheduled to be released on May 13th, 2016, by Roadside Attractions and Amazon Studios. Although it is adapted from Austen's novel Lady Susan, the film has been produced under the borrowed title of her juvenile story Love and Friendship.

The music (all 27 tracks) on this truly delightful, light, but hearty Love & Friendship soundtrack was recorded in August and September 2015 under the direction of Mark Suozzo. Jane Austen's story of Lady Susan Vernon and her amours was written between 1793 and 1805, but music from an earlier period seemed to better reflect the spirit of the movie.

Handel, Purcell, Boyce Fremart, Mozart, Vivaldi and other composers of the Pantheon create the musical accompaniment to Lady Susan s world. Composer Benjamin Esdraffo wrote key additional tracks, including the title music, and Suozzo conducted the Irish Film Orchestra to record all of the music for the soundtrack.

As for Suozzo, he began his career in film working with indie director Whit Stillman. Their first collaboration, 'Metropolitan' earned numerous nominations and awards. Its success led to the films 'Barcelona', 'The Last Days of Disco' and 'Damsels in Distress'. Their latest collaboration is 'The Cosmopolitans' for Amazon Studios.
