Title - 'Carols From Queen's'
Artist - Choir Of The Queen's College, Oxford / Owen Rees

Carols from Queen's is a true celebration of Choir of The Queen's College, Oxford, presenting popular holiday favorites that have deep associations with the renowned institution, including 'The Boar's Head Carol', 'A Spotless Rose', 'In The Bleak Midwinter', and 'The Three Kings,' amongst many other "re imagined" classics.

Celebrating the Christmas story through an imaginative selection of tracks and providing a multifaceted telling of the familiar narrative, Carols from Queen's from Choir Of The Queen's College, Oxford directed by Owen Rees (Professor of Music at the University of Oxford, and Fellow in Music and Organist, Director of Music, at The Queen’s College, Oxford), proves, once again, that they are still one of the finest and most active university choirs in the UK at this time.

The Queen’s College has a strong musical tradition, and the mixed-voiced chapel choir of twenty-eight singers is recognized as one of the finest such groups in Oxford and Cambridge.

The Choir of The Queen’s College, Oxford is among the finest and most active university choirs in the UK. Its wide-ranging repertory includes a rich array of music from Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces to contemporary works, including commissions. During the academic year the choir provides the music for regular services in the splendid Baroque Chapel of The Queen’s College, Oxford.

Its extensive concert schedule involves appearances in many parts of the UK and abroad, including work with various professional orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Brook Street Band and Oxford Philomusica, and it broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio in the UK.

Carols from Queen's features some incredible performances, each member of the choir singing their work splendidly and with great assurance and commitment. The sound is fresh and clear, the choir achieving a satisfying blend and very good diction, which is always important on recordings such as these. Trained and orchestrated by Owen Rees, Carols from Queen's is the Christmas album you want playing on the 25th of December, trust me.
