Title - 'Uncorked: Rare Tracks from a Vintage 70s Band'
Artist - Kelakos

Never heard of Kelakos, well that's OK as you're not alone! But that doesn't mean to say that you should give Uncorked: Rare Tracks from a Vintage 70s Band a wide musical birth, that's for damn sure! Quite the opposite, because this unheralded seventies band with ties to eighties rock finally gets its due with this 15 track batch of rare, and in some cases, previously never-before-on CD recordings.

Kelakos was originally formed in Ithaca, NY and comprised of singer/guitarist George Michael Kelakos Haberstroh (I couldn't make that up if I tried!), guitarist Mark Sisson, bassist Lincoln Bloomfield, and drummer Carl Canedy. The last name there, Canedy has been the long-time drummer for heavy metal veterans The Rods, in addition to producing classic releases in the 80's by such bands as Anthrx, Overkill, TT Quick, Exciter and Possessed, among others.

The first single the band released was in 1976, but they waited another two years before unleashing their debut album, Gone Are The Days in September of 1978. Lead singer and guitarist Haberstroh continued to write and record, building a prolific catalog of original music. Sisson pursued his passion for electric guitars and became a sales professional and Bloomfield went to Washington to pursue international relations; both in and out of government.

Never really heard of again, even in the classic rock areas of Ithaca around that time, and definitely since those late seventies/early eighties days by the wider audience, Uncorked: Rare Tracks from a Vintage 70s Band brings Kelakos back into our lives; kickin' and' screamin'! With a fully-remixed new album, contained within are the singles 'Gone Are The Days' and the trippy 'How Did You Get So Crazy,' the brilliant "live" album-opener 'Boogie Bad Express,' 'Rachel,' the guitar-laden dreamscape of 'Follow Your Dream,' the speeding guitar work of 'Persephone's Poison,' and the guitar-laden jam 'Frostbite Fantasy.' Add to that a never-before-released song, 'In The Sun,' and this is a veritable treasure trove for all those lovers of that classic rock sound among us today.
