Title - 'The Singles' (Epic / Legacy)
Artist - The Clash
I grew up on these singles. Indeed, I had 85% of them in vinyl upon release, particularly the early ones. The excitement around a new Clash single was intense for me, and they always delivered the goods. So I won't argue the artistic merits of this stuff. It sounds phenomenal in this new collection ... and pretty much always will!
Mind you if you haven't listened to The Clash's music before(!), you are really missing out! This is a solid collection of their singles (all their US and UK A-Sides!), and is a decent beginning to any punk collection.
That being said, it's only a beginning for there are better CD compilations of The Clash's music out there tday, such as "The Story of The Clash," which has 28 of their songs; including one of their best singles "Career Opportunites."
But, most any and all CDs of The Clash are good! This one includes the following tracks: 1. Should I Stay Or Should I Go, 2. Rock The Casbah,
3. London Calling , 4. I Fought The Law , 5. White Man In Hammersmith Palais , 6. The Magnificent Seven , 7. This Is Radio Clash , 8. Bankrobber , 9. The Call Up , 10. Complete Control , 11. Remote Control , 12. Tommy Gun , 13. Clash City Rockers , 14. English Civil War , 15. Hitsville UK , 16. Know Your Rights , 17. This Is England
18. White Riot , 19. Train In Vain (bonus track) and 20. Groovy Times (bonus track).
