Title - 'Sound Mass II: Spiritual Docking'
Artist - My Education / Theta Naught
A daring and superb collaboration between two highly adventurous improvisational post-rock bands, My Education from Austin, TX and Theta Naught out of Salt Lake City, bring us Sound Mass II: Spiritual Docking on Cleopatra Records.
This incredible joint venture by two extremely well regarded post-rock bands will, maybe quite literally, simultaneously blow your mind and lift your spirit!
To fill you in on both bands, My Education is an American instrumental post-rock band that creates cinematic and psychedelic compositions; blending intense droning guitars with melodic viola. The core of the band is two guitars, bass, drums, and viola, although they do play with violins, keyboards and vibes at times.
US band Theta Naught was formed in 2002, initially as a trio, and describe themselves simply as a "collective." They released their debut album, Something Scientific in 2003, and their sophomore album, Abacus followed in 2004. 2006 saw them collaborate with Alex Caldiero on Sound Weave, and four years later two more albums followed in the shape of both Omnium-Gatherum and Naught Christmas.
Theta Naught's most recent production is actually Sound Mass from 2012, a split release with, of course, My Education. Almost 30 different musicians have contributed on the albums released by Theta Naught as of 2013!
